and growing church family. We are welcoming and inspirational
in our worship, loving and compassionate in our care for one
another. We are a diverse family and one in Christ.
We learn from God’s word and encourage one another as we
believe that every person has been gifted by God and is called
to serve Christ and one another in this world. Our goal is to
assist you on your spiritual journey aided by the Holy and
life giving Spirit of God.
We aim to bring all persons young and old, single or married

This is the community of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church located
in Ankeny Iowa.
We enjoy a diverse membership that draws its members from the
Metro-Des Moines area. The present building was built in
1991. We strive to work together in our mission of
"transforming lives for Christ" in our daily lives and in
our community. This website is intended to share our community
with you. But this website is no replacement for joining us on
Sunday mornings and meeting us in person as a family. Come be
our guests. There is no obligation. Try us out. You will be
glad you came.
Service Times
All persons interested in being our guests are welcome at
St. Anne's. First you should know that our dress on Sundays is
always casual. We encourage you to come and share a cup of
coffee with us during our fellowship time before and after
each service.
8:00 am is our more traditional service. There is prayer and
opportunity for silence before the opening hymn is played.
There is Christian Formation classes that begin at 9:15-10:15
am. Our second worship service at 10:30 am is blended with
contemporary music and familiar hymns with updated settings
and tempos.
If you want to drop in on a Sunday to get a feel for who we
are there is no obligation to join. We will be most happy to
have you worship with us. Be prepared to stay for a cup of
great coffee and a treat at the fellowship times.
The mid-week worship are healing services of prayer held every
Wednesday morning at 7:30 am to catch those who are on their
way to work. The evening worship is 7:00 pm.
St. Anne's holds bible studies and discussion groups on both
Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays.

Special Events
St Anne's also has special worship services
throughout
the year. These include Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday,
Wednesdays during Lent, Good Friday and at other times. We
also maintain online calendars.

During the Christmas season, St. Anne's holds a live Nativity
scene along with refreshments for the community.
On Shrove Tuesday (the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday), there is
a traditional pancake supper held in the Parish Hall.

These are other great times to come and get a feel for the St
Anne's community.
Each summer, St. Anne's leads a youth mission trip to Pine
Ridge, South Dakota. Throughout the year, St. Anne's
participates in an ecumenical outreach to the homeless youth
in the Des Moines area. These are more opportunities to
do God's work in today's world.

The Church lay leadership known as the
Vestry manages the Church's affairs.
The
six members are annually elected to rotating three year
terms. Doug Karlen is our present Senior Warden, who acts as
the senior member of the Vestry.
Location
St Anne's is located at the corner of NW Linden and First
Street in West Central Ankeny. The Church is three blocks
west of State Street (2nd Avenue) on West First Street. You
can check us out on
Google Maps.
Parking and Access
Parking is available around the building. We have reserved
visitor parking spots, but you are free to park in any space.
For persons with disabilities, there are multiple reserved
handicapped spaces.
St. Anne's is built on a single ground level and does not
have steps. It is thoroughly accessible for persons with
movement disabilities. If you have questions related to
disability access, please contact us, by phone or email
(provided below).
