We are using A Third Look At Jesus by Carlos H. Abesamis.
We need not only a second look at Jesus… The first look at Jesus was through Semitic eyes. This was the way Jesus saw himself. And this was the way many of the first Christians saw Jesus.
The second look at Jesus was through Greek and Western eyes. This second look lasted from around 1000 A.D. to the 1960’s. But even today this is still by and large the way Christians see Jesus.
It’s time for a third look. This third look happens to be also the Third World look. It is the view of the poor and oppressed of our day— the awakened, struggling, and selfless poor— and of people who are in genuine solidarity with the poor.
